- Hannah Kobayashi was caught on camera with a stranger in Los Angeles after she didn't get on her flight bound for New York City on Nov. 11, according to her family
- “She knows no one in L.A.," said her aunt Larie Pidgeon. "Our entire family knows no one in L.A."
- The Los Angeles Police Department tells PEOPLE on Nov. 20 that an investigation is "ongoing" and that "there is no further information at this time"
The family of a Hawaii woman, who has been missing since failing to board a connecting flight in Los Angeles last week, say their loved one was caught on camera with a stranger after leaving the airport.
Fox affiliate KHON previously reported that Hannah left her home of Maui for L.A. on Nov. 8 where she was supposed to board a connecting flight to N.Y.C, which was scheduled to land on Nov. 9.
The family saw surveillance video of the missing woman with a stranger in the downtown part of Los Angeles on Nov. 11, KGMB/KHNL reported. That same day, Kobayashi sent out text messages referencing that she gave away her money and was scared.
The Los Angeles Police Department said in a missing persons poster that Kobayashi, 30, had been missing since Nov. 11 with her last known location at Los Angeles Airport (LAX).
“It has been confirmed that she did leave the airport on 11/11 in the evening and that she boarded the Metro,” Larie Pidgeon, Kobayahshi’s aunt, told KGMB/KHNL. “She was not alone. She was with an unidentified person."
Pidgeon said Kobayashi had never spoken to the family about the person she was seen with.
“We haven’t heard about [it],” Pidgeon told the outlet. “She knows no one in L.A. Our entire family knows no one in L.A.”
The family said that Kobayashi did not appear well based on the footage, which has not been publicly released, according to KGMB/KHNL.

Police tell PEOPLE on Wednesday, Nov. 20, that an investigation is "ongoing" and that "there is no further information at this time." The department previously confirmed to PEOPLE that a missing persons report was filed.
Pidgeon previously told ABC affiliate KTIV that Kobayashi was traveling to New York for a concert and photography assignment along with seeing family members.
"We're just trying to not be paralyzed, in a way, not think of the worst," the aunt said.
Brandi Yee, Kobayashi’s mother, previously shared with KHON that she was in touch with her daughter before her disappearance.
“I reached out to her and I’m like, ‘Hey, are you in New York yet?’ And she’s like, ‘Not yet.’ And it was weird because the flight that she was supposed to go on had already flown,” Yee said.
Pidgeon also shared in a Nov. 14 Facebook post that her niece felt “scared” in text messages while staying in Los Angeles before her scheduled connecting flight to New York City.
"Hannah’s last message to us was alarming — she mentioned feeling scared, and that someone might be trying to steal her money and identity," Pidgeon wrote. "She hasn’t been heard from since, and we are gravely concerned for her safety.”
Her sister Sydni created a GoFundMe fundraiser in support of the search for her sister. As of Nov. 20, it has raised nearly $14,000.
Ryan Kobayashi, Hannah's father, told KTLA that he misses his daughter, adding, "Just want her to know that, and just want her to reach out — anything.”
