BATON ROUGE — A man accused of killing two people and injuring two others in an early morning drunk-driving crash was arrested, arrest records say.
Devin Kleinpeter, 29, was arrested Tuesday for the Nov. 2 crash.
Baton Rouge Police said that Kleinpeter was driving recklessly near the intersection of South Foster Drive and Claycut Road when he "failed to navigate the curve" and hit a tree on the car's passenger side. According to police, the road was wet following heavy rainfall.
Two passengers in the BMW SUV that Kleinpeter was driving were killed after the crash and two were injured, an arrest warrant said.
Police said that Kleinpeter tested positive for cocaine, as well as a .121% blood alcohol level. The legal limit is .08%.
Kleinpeter was booked for two counts each of vehicular homicide and first-degree vehicular negligent injuring, as well as one count each of reckless operation of a vehicle and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
